• My practice does not work with third parties such as insurance and Medicaid/Medicare in order to provide the highest level of patient-centered and physician-guided integrative care. I can provide an itemized receipt or superbill that may allow you to get reimbursement from your insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits.

  • I don't take over prescriptions of controlled substances (benzos like clonazepam or Xanax or stimulants like Ritalin or Adderall) prescribed by other providers. There may be, however, occasions where I consider a controlled substance as being a helpful component of treatment in a well-established patient who in my medical opinion is an appropriate candidate. Due to the significant harm I have seen over the years that regular use of benzodiazepines in particular can cause, as a general practice, I usually recommend to my patients to utilize other less risky means to manage chronic anxiety if at all possible.

  •  I'm able to provide more depth and give you my 100% focus and attention (as opposed to care received in an insurance-managed system where third parties dictate the amount of care received, the focus of the provider, and the provider has to spend the visit collecting arbitrary information to fulfill requirements by the insurance companies or government in order to simply bill for the visit- this often takes away focus from the patient and turns medicine into a fast-food style of practice).  You aren't patient number 11 out of 16 for the day.  I have the time to understand you and how best to help you because, besides yourself, I am the only other stakeholder involved in this process during the visit-- I am invested in you getting better as my primary focus. An added bonus is that your information is completely private (because there are no third parties involved in the care).

  • As a treating clinician my exams aren't designed to evaluate for the various factors that are needed for a sound psychiatric disability evaluation. The disability department can refer you to an independent evaluator if needed, or you can ask your PCP if they feel comfortable doing this.

  • If you are a competitive combat sports athlete (for instance, Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, BJJ, wrestling)- amateur, collegiate or professional, we can discuss a sliding fee schedule if needed.

  • I treat men and women ages 18-64 years old.

  • Individuals with current safety concerns (suicidal, homicidal or active self-harm), or chronic safety concerns; individuals with severely unstable personality disorders; severely-unstable psychotic or mood disorders, or individuals in active substance use. Such individuals are generally better served with a higher level of care until their condition is better stabilized.

  • Visits can be done in-person at the Davis Boulevard location, by telemedicine where you can be in the comfort of your own home, or I come to you under the "house call" option. If OMT is part your treatment, due the hands-on nature of OMT, this is done at the Davis Boulevard office or at your home under the "house call" model.
